Just weeks after rumors of a possible acquisition by LVMH came up, Rodarte shows their most wearable, commercial collection ever. I really love Rodarte, it's my fav label presented in NYFW and every Rodart's fashion show are for me so exciting! I would like to be there, in NY, while the Doors' "The End" blared in the background andmodels sashayed past in silk dresses with subtle wood-panel prints. Wish I'm there!
The sisters Mulleavy truly think like artists and I loved each piece of this Spring 2011 collection full of cool indie-spirited. Inspired by Northern California, its redwood forests, and its cultural links to Japan and China, Laura and Kate Mulleavy sent out parquet-printed dresses and blue and white floral china-patterned gowns. They created all the fabrics themselves. There are dresses look like vases and Chinese Ming-print silk dresses and the gold lamé gown with hammered-sequined full skirt was so retro it looked ancient Roman. A mix of '70s-inspired suburban golden warrior princesses.
A final note for the glorious carved wood heels and wedges by Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte, worn with white bobby socks and hand-carved wooden barrettes.
