Filling the hex can be really difficult, and a random determination table is almost fundamental. Here are the ones I plan to use, in order.

1-5: Empty
6-8: Civilization
9-11: Ruins
12-14: Monster
15-17: Hazard
18-20: Weird Vegetation
Civilization or Ruins (d20)
1-4: Village (50%) or Camp
5-8: Temple
9-12: Tower
13-16: Keep
17-19: Castle
20: Spaceship
Hazard (d20)
1-10: Contamination
11-13: Geyser
14-16: Pit Traps
17-20: Living Vegetation

The Attack Matrix
Inspired by this post at Gorgonmilk I decided to make something similar for my Yaqqothl Campaign. I don't like the one provided in the 3LBBs that much, mostly because it looks totally weird to me. Also, you'll notice that on Yaqqothl you always have to roll "higher than 4", no matter how high your level is. Moreover, it works with THAC0 and I love it, because of my poor memory.
