Yaqqothl is a frightening and pretty weird place. There are no states, and but three cities (one of these is almost impossible to reach), and the rare civilized outposts are nothing more than small villages or, at best, temples where degenerate humans worship ancient and forgotten demons from The Outer Space. One of the key features of Yaqqothl is the focus on exploration. As part of the setting? It can happen. Act as a character in a story? It can happen. But none of this is the core of Yaqqothl: there are no big dramas here, just place to explore, monsters (and even deities) to kill and treasures to compulsively hoard. Definitely not the right place for a failed novelist DM, but hell of a right place for hundreds of hours of playing.
Yaqqothl is not a setting, nor a wilderness adventure or a supplement. It is, somehow, a melting pot of these three elements. What I want to produce is a sandbox, similar to X1 – The Isle of Dread, but way more complex. The final version should feature a massive hex-crawl, at least three scenarios for various levels of experience (1-3, 4-7 and 8-11), new spells, monsters and artifacts firmly related to the module.
I will use this blog for minor spoilers, questions and the like. It's unlikely that I will continue to post as often as I did in the last week (hell, I did 28 posts in 8 days!), for I will start working on the module itself. I hope Austrodavicus – aka, you know, Greyharp – will still help me with my english syntax, for this story will prove to be a bit of a difficult task for me and my high-school grammar level. Damn, I wish my parents had sent me to the UK when I was 15. Also, I hope I made my point clear – if you have a question shoot me a comment.
