Egg Recall Numbers

Egg recall numbers: Here’s the egg recall list

The egg recall now includes new facilities. Here’s what you need to know.

The egg recall brand from Iowa that has initiated the action has expanded the egg recall list, and it includes more plants now.

This is more important than the Dr. Laura N word scandal, so you just might want to read on…

Wright County Egg officials suggest you recheck your eggs, even if you did so after the 1st announcement and they were not included in the recall then. Each egg carton has a P, then a number, at the end. The number after the P stands for the plant where the eggs come from. If the number is P1720 or P1942, here’s what you do next.

You look at the three-digit number that comes after the above number. If that number is a number between 136 and 229, those eggs are part of the recall. The number represents the day of the year when the eggs came out of the plant (136 is May 16, the 136th day of the year).

If it's the 1st time you check, add P1026, P1413 and P1946 to the above instructions, followed by numbers ranging from 136 to 225.

If they fall under any of these, the eggs should be taken back to the store for a full refund.

Egg Recall Sparked by Salmonella Threat: Are You at Risk?

A massive egg recall has consumers scrambling to check their pantries for eggs that might be contaminated with salmonella.

The recall involves 228 million eggs produced in Galt, Iowa by Wright County Egg, and distributed to wholesalers and food service companies nationwide.

The recall affects eggs sold under the following brands: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm freshly, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms, and Kemps.

If you've suspect eggs, check the dates and codes stamped on the end of the carton.

The plant numbers affected are P-1026, P-1413, and P-1946. The dates (recorded in the "Julian format") range from 136 to 225, according to a statement by the Egg Safety Center. For example, eggs in a carton marked with the number P-1026 137 should not be eaten.

Consumers who have suspicious eggs can get a refund if they return them in their original carton to the store where they were bought.

"This recall is of shell eggs only. Other egg products produced by Wright County Eggs are not affected," the company said in a statement.

Minnesota health officials say seven salmonella cases in 2 restaurant outbreaks have been linked to Wright County Egg in May and July.
