Miss Asia Pageant was first organized by Asia Television Limited (ATV), a media company of Hong Kong in 1985. However, competition was suspended from 2000 to 2003 and was re-organized in 2004. Since then, the pageant has been opened for beauties not only in Hongkong but from other countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, India, Singapore, Lebanon, Uzbekistan and Vietnam …
Starting from 2004, the semi-finals are held in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The final tournament’s format was changed to divide contestants into three categories: Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan; Mainland China; and the rest of Asia. However, there are usually multiple representatives from Hong Kong and Mainland China, compared to one contestant from each of the rest of the countries.
