What is provided here are guidelines to play in a dangerous alien world filled with all kinds of eldritch weirdness and gonzo science fantasy stuff, as well as a big sandbox crawl: The Isle of Dreadful Doom. I will start work using Swords & Wizardry and the original '74 edition of Dungeons & Dragons, and hopefully come out with sort of a supplement/derived engine to publish. Honestly, I don't feel like I have something to say - I just love the idea of a homemade booklet of rpg condensed stuff. These are my design goals:
- New character types and stats for a more pulp s&s oriented style of game;
- New gonzo sorceries;
- New splat monsters;
- More Mythos;
- More laser weapons;
- More dinosaurs;
- And especially, MORE PIRATES!
I will approach this project following the "anything goes" philosophy, while trying to provide a somehow consistent sandbox (i.e. yes the evil frog sorcerer riding a t-rex is there, but it makes perfect sense). Now take a look at my Appendix N:
- Clark Ashton Smith;
- H. P. Lovecraft;
- Lin Carter;
- R. E. Howard;
- Jack Vance;
- China Miéville;
- Flash Gordon;
- He Man and the Masters of the Universe;
- Korgoth of Barbaria;
- Dune;
- Planet Terror;
- The Sword and the Sorcerer;
- Omega Doom;
- Zardoz;
- Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu;
- Encounter Critical;
- Mutant Chronicles;
- Advanced Dungeons & Dragons;
- Arduin Grimoire;
- Supplement III: Eldritch Wizardry;
- Supplement V: Carcosa.
