Claudia Cohen - Famed New York gossip columnist, socialite and television reporter, Claudia Cohen, 57, dead because a six-year fight against ovarian cancer on Friday, June 15, 2007.

Claudia Cohen passed away with her ex-husband, Ron Perelman, as well as her family, by her side at the Memorial-Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Claudia Cohen was a regular on and an active member of the Manhattan and Hamptons social scene until her death.

Cohen first began her career as a writer at the New York Post, writing for the Page Six column, earning herself a promotion to editor of the page a few years thereafter. Then Claudia Cohen moved to The New York Daily News, where she wrote her own column, entitled, “I, Claudia.”

Ronald Perelman (Ex-husband) recently asked the University of Pennsylvania to rename the historic Logan Hall, which sits next to College Hall, as the Claudia Cohen Hall, much to the surprise of some Penn faculty, alumni, and students. The rear of the newly-renamed building overlooks Perelman Quadrangle.
