Sonia Sotomayor, the White House confirms, will be announced as the nominee for the Supreme Court at 10;15 this morning.
POLITICO will be all over all aspects of the choice today, but the key political implication is the obvious one: This is a dramatic symbolic bolstering of Obama's relationship with Hispanics, whose support could ensure his reelection. (Can he be the first Hispanic president too? He's been quietly, respectfully working the community as hard as Bill Clinton did African-Americans.)
