3d Realms

Duke Nukem developer 3D Realms is to close its doors, according to multiple reports.

The studio was founded in 1987 by Scott Miller and George Broussard and is best known for its series of Duke Nukem shooters. It had been developing the highly anticipated Duke Nukem Forever, announced in 1997, for over a decade.

According to Shacknews, the studio’s closure came about as a result of funding issues. 3D Realms’ Joe Siegler seemingly confirmed the studio’s demise in a forum post. "It's not a marketing thing. It's true. I have nothing further to say at this time,"Duke Nukem Forever publisher Take-Two said that it had not been funding ongoing development of the game and that it retained the rights to the title.
