MARIO PRINCIPE PHOTOGRAPHY - A MODERN TOUCH IN THE NEW LOOK!

For some time I appreciate very much the work that the photographer Mario Principe has developed in the Portuguese Fashion World and I really like his editorials which I recognize a unique style while inspired by the classic elegance mixed with tones avowedly avant-garde.

This last work of Mario Principe for a Isilda Pelicano's  Fall/Winter 2010-11 catalog is really amazing! The geometric lines of the buildings with its bright colors underline the elegance of the black pieces designed by
Isilda Pelicano.

Avant-garde, art deco, bauhaus, art nouveau and futurism are the main influences in this fantastic editorial...

...lines that intersect and lead the eye to the depth of the monochrome models. The collection are modern with a classic twist which matches perfectly with Mario Principe photography. Good choice, great work!

In some way Isilda Pelicano's work rememeber me The New Look and of course Christian Dior in the shape and silhouete and the photographer knew perfectly interpret this look of supreme elegance and absolut feminine.

polyamorous

There is the buzz word – polyamorous. From the Greek word “poly”- meaning many or multiple, and Latin “amor” suggesting love. Many loves, many intimate relationships, at one time? What an adventurous love life, and perhaps, a roller-coaster ride if not complicated. What exactly does it imply?

Polyamorous is a nature of a relationship at a given time wherein a person has multiple romantic relationships with consent from all parties involved, describes Wikipedia. It is a type of relationship, a philosophy, a lifestyle revolving around the values of negotiation, openness, trust, honesty, dignity, and respect.

Here is the rub. Monogamy versus polyamory. Traditional versus liberalism. Religion versus relativism. Dr. Patrick Fagan notes these differences: In a monogamy culture that implies dating, marriage and “for better or worst” long-term relationship with just one partner, there is a sacred seal that binds the couple together. Sanctity of married life is recognized. In contrast, a polyamory culture hides religion or suppress it altogether, not to mention the worship of God.

Moreover, the culture of polyamory, he continues, acts only as a “safety net not only for the unlucky but the unrestrained, increasingly relies on social welfare programs to save its adherents from the effects of its form of sexuality. In political discourse, he notes, the culture of monogamy highlights men dedicated to their family, wife, and children, whereas the culture of polyamory promotes licentiousness – men and women incapable of sexual restraint. Relationships, in particular family life, is either scrupulously protected or instinctively exploited.

Then again, the beliefs from which the culture of polyamory exists negate these very differences. Freedom and sex may spell the difference; but the long-term consequences could make couples and lovers decide.

My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, "You're tearing up the grass." "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply. "We're raising boys." ~Harmon Killebrew

One father is more than a hundred Schoolemasters. ~George Herbert, Outlandish Proverbs, 1640

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. ~Bill Cosby

Father! - to God himself we cannot give a holier name. ~William Wordsworth

Henry James once defined life as that predicament which precedes death, and certainly nobody owes you a debt of honor or gratitude for getting him into that predicament. But a child does owe his father a debt, if Dad, having gotten him into this peck of trouble, takes off his coat and buckles down to the job of showing his son how best to crash through it. ~Clarence Budington Kelland

A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again. ~Enid Bagnold

Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father! ~Lydia M. Child, Philothea: A Romance, 1836

There's one sad truth in life I've found
While journeying east and west -
The only folks we really wound
Are those we love the best.
We flatter those we scarcely know,
We please the fleeting guest,
And deal full many a thoughtless blow
To those who love us best.
~Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Craik

Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later... that the man before him was not an aging father but a boy, a boy much like himself, a boy who grew up and had a child of his own and, as best he could, out of a sense of duty and, perhaps love, adopted a role called Being a Father so that his child would have something mythical and infinitely important: a Protector, who would keep a lid on all the chaotic and catastrophic possibilities of life. ~Tom Wolfe, The Bonfire of the Vanities

Spread the diaper in the position of the diamond with you at bat. Then fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher's mound. Put first base and third together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again. ~Jimmy Piersal, on how to diaper a baby, 1968

A Father and a Dad Are Not the Same

"A father and a dad are not the same:
One can be a dad and not a father,
Or one can be a father and not bother
To earn through love the more endearing name.
Some find fatherhood a bit too tame,
Leaving all the details to the mother,
Or dumping the sweet burden on another
Man with just a passing twinge of shame.
You have been our dad so many years
That you've become the landscape that is home,
The mountain that we look to from afar.
No matter where we go we're not alone,
For you remain within to still our fears
And be the word that tells us who we are."

Navy Advancement

“You are your own Teacher” – The Navy Advancement Exam

The first step in preparing for the exam is to download your bibs or bibliography. Bibliography are references for the exam. There are many online references for which you can download. Some sources though, mostly classified and military manuals are not available for download.

After downloading the materials for the preparation, you will need to gather all Navy advancement material then enroll at the NETPDTC (stands for Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center) your NEVEDTRA (stands for Naval Education and Training Command) courses. When finished in enrolling in the course, a printed copy will be went to you.

The site called NavyAdvancement.com has an available bib, which is short for bibliography reference page, rate specific page and Professional Military page.

The enlisted exam contains 200 questions which basically includes (PMK) Professional Military Knowledge and Navy Occupational Standards (Occ).

Your occupational questions will be first, followed by the PMK questions.

The enlisted Navy Advancement Center provides a note that states that the exams differentiate among the fully qualified candidates for passing on the basis of who has the most knowledge on the context.

The way to differentiate yourself, you must seek the knowledge being said.

BURAKA SOM SISTEMA: LOOKING GOOD IS A STATE OF MIND!

Warning: Please play off the Fashion Heroines player before you play this video

Fashion Heroines told you all about how as part of Dr. Martens’ 50-year anniversary celebrations, the footwear brand commissioned a bevy of musicians to produce videos of classic tracks. Here’s one of those vids: Buraka Som Sistema’s cover of Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance,” directed by Anthony Burrill.

Buraka Som Sistema is an electronic dance music project from Portugal, specializing in a fusion of techno beats with the African kuduro genre, and are generally credited with creating the "progressive kuduro" variant  and have been awarded an MTV European Music Award.
The group was founded in 2006 by João Barbosa (Li'l John), Rui Pité (DJ Riot), Andro Carvalho (Conductor) and Kalaf Ângelo. Their first release was From Buraka to the World, an EP released on the Portuguese label Enchufada, which include the single "Yah!", featuring vocals from Angolan hip-hop MC Petty. It was followed by another Petty vocalized track, "Wawaba", and a re-release of From Buraka to the World, expanded to full album.

After touring in several European countries, including playing at the Glastonbury Festival and Roskilde Festival, the three producers released "Sound of Kuduro" in 2007, which features rapping by M.I.A., DJ Znobia, Saborosa and Puto Prata. The track was a precursor to their second album, Black Diamond, which was released in 2008 by Sony BMG, followed by a new single, "Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)", with vocals by Pongolove.
